Damien Samedi is a hard-working man, a loving son and a caring boyfriend. He’s also been struggling with a drug addiction most of his adult life, counting on his mother’s matter-of-fact, yet unwavering support. “Petit Samedi” is the universally relatable, life-affirming portrait of a man facing his demons.

Director Sermon-Daï, a sister of Samedi: “In our little post-industrial Walloon village, populated with its strange characters, we decided together to confront the gazes and free our voice. It was also a way for me to claim my right to expression, no matter my social class or origins. This film, so vital for me, is the unconscious necessity that drove me to study film. The film that had to be done before doing anything else, gift for myself and for my family.”
